Services for Individuals
I help high-achieving women struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, overthinking, self-criticism, and the pressure to keep everything together understand and change the patterns keeping them overwhelmed so they can feel more in control of their lives without expecting themselves to do everything perfectly.
Who I Commonly Work With
I often work with high-achieving women who are capable, responsible, and accustomed to being the person everyone else depends on.
Many are professionals, leaders, business owners, mothers, caregivers, or women in other high-responsibility roles. They may be balancing demanding careers, relationships, children, households, and the needs of other people while expecting themselves to handle all of it well.
From the outside, they often appear successful, organized, and in control. Internally, they may feel anxious, exhausted, overwhelmed, resentful, or frustrated that they can't seem to relax or turn their minds off.
I commonly work with women who:
-
Overthink decisions, conversations, and mistakes
-
Set extremely high expectations for themselves
-
Feel like what they do is never quite good enough
-
Have a harsh inner critic
-
Replay situations and worry about whether they handled them correctly
-
Feel guilty when resting or doing something for themselves
-
Have difficulty delegating or accepting help
-
Micromanage because letting go of control feels uncomfortable
-
Feel responsible for keeping everyone and everything on track
-
People-please or have difficulty setting boundaries
-
Take on too much because saying no feels uncomfortable
-
Become overwhelmed, irritable, reactive, or shut down when they've taken on too much
-
Have difficulty being present because they're constantly thinking about what needs to happen next
-
Know intellectually that their expectations may be unrealistic but still have difficulty behaving differently
Many of the women I work with are already highly insightful. They understand that they're doing too much, worrying too much, or expecting too much of themselves.
The difficulty is figuring out how to actually respond differently when these patterns have helped them succeed, feel responsible, or maintain a sense of control for years.
Services I Offer
Individual Therapy for Anxiety & Perfectionism
I provide online individual therapy for women experiencing anxiety, perfectionism, chronic stress, overthinking, self-criticism, people-pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, burnout, and the pressure to keep everything together.
I bring more than 20 years of experience as a therapist to my work with clients. My style is warm, direct, practical, and engaged, with an emphasis on helping you understand your patterns and make changes you can use in everyday life.
My approach includes:
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Helps you recognize and change anxious, perfectionistic, and self-critical thoughts and behaviors, including all-or-nothing thinking, excessive worry, unrealistic expectations, and patterns that keep you overfunctioning or feeling responsible for everything.
-
Solution-Focused Therapy: Helps identify what's already working, clarify what you want to change, and develop realistic, practical steps toward doing things differently.
Our work may include learning to challenge perfectionistic thinking, reduce overthinking, tolerate mistakes and uncertainty, set healthier boundaries, ask for and accept help, reduce self-criticism, and become more comfortable letting other people handle things differently than you would.
The goal isn't to make you less ambitious, responsible, or successful. It's to help you recognize when the qualities that have helped you succeed are also contributing to anxiety, exhaustion, or the feeling that you can never do enough.
Couples & Relationship Counseling
Couples counseling is another primary specialty in my practice. I work with couples experiencing infidelity or broken trust, communication problems, recurring conflict, emotional disconnection, and loss of physical or sexual intimacy.
When This Work Is a Good Fit
This work is often a good fit for women who are insightful, motivated, and accustomed to handling things on their own, but are frustrated that understanding their patterns hasn't been enough to change them.
You may be a good fit if you want a therapist who is warm and supportive while also direct, practical, and willing to challenge patterns that aren't working for you.
You don't need to want to become less ambitious, less responsible, or less successful. The goal isn't to stop caring about doing things well.
Instead, we can work on recognizing when high standards have become rigid or exhausting, reducing the anxiety and self-criticism surrounding them, and finding ways to function without feeling like everything depends on you doing everything perfectly.
This work may be particularly relevant if you frequently think:
-
“If I don't do it, it won't get done right.”
-
“I should be able to handle this.”
-
“I can't relax when there's still something that needs to be done.”
-
“Everyone depends on me.”
-
“I know I'm doing too much, but I don't know how to stop.”
-
“Why can't I just let things go?”
You don't need to arrive at therapy knowing exactly what needs to change. Identifying those patterns is part of the work.
When This May Not Be the Best Fit
My practice may not be the best fit if you are looking for therapy for a child, need emergency or crisis-level care, or need support that is available on demand.
I work with adults and couples and do not provide therapy for children.
I do not provide emergency services and am not available 24/7. Clients are seen by appointment only. If you need immediate or emergency assistance, please use appropriate local emergency or crisis services rather than waiting for a therapy appointment or response from me.
Clients must be sober and able to participate meaningfully during sessions. If alcohol or other substance use is interfering with your ability to participate safely or effectively in therapy, we can discuss whether additional or alternative services may be appropriate.
Because my practice is virtual, you also need reliable internet access and a private place where you can participate in therapy.
